“The whole world opened up to me when I learned to read.”

- Mary Mcleod Bethune, American educator and civil rights activist.

KTJ Primary have recently celebrated Book Week online and in school. The students had many opportunities to participate in a wide range of exciting activities, including potion making in Early Years and a 'Guess the teacher behind the book' competition. On Friday, the students and teachers were encouraged to dress up as their favourite book characters!

The results of the annual Prose Reading Competition were also revealed in Friday's Primary assembly. Last year, this competition was held in the Tuanku Ja'afar Auditorium and was judged by KTJ Founder, Tunku Dara. Whilst we couldn't be in the Auditorium this year, the children did a wonderful job of submitting their entries online via Flipgrid.

Year 5 teacher and joint organiser of KTJ Primary's Book Week, Ms Simy, expressed her gratitude to all students for their impressive submissions:

"It was amazing to see so many entries of such a high standard, all the way from Early Years to Year 6. Everyone read with such a great sense of enthusiasm, highlighting everyone's love of books and reading - which is what Book Week is all about!

A special mention must go out to EYFS and KS1, the younger students of KTJ, all read with incredible confidence and enthusiasm! It was incredibly difficult to choose a winner as there were so many great entries, along with a wide variety of books."

The Prose Reading Competition winner in KS1 was Taarini (Year 1CG) and Olan from KS2 (Year 5MD). Congratulations to both of those students!
