Growth Mindset
KTJ PE & Sport welcomed keynote speaker Tim Newenham who is a GB Olympian in Javelin, High Performance Director and Coach. Tim has worked with the GB and Malaysian Olympic teams and many other elite performers. He delivered a passionate talk to F4 PE students on the importance of establishing a ‘growth mindset’ for optimising success in academics, learning, leadership and performance in sport. The talk was followed by a student workshop with our district and state throwers.
Tim completed graduate and post-graduate studies in Sports Science and Management at Loughborough University, applying this knowledge in order to improve his own sports performances and those of others through coaching. An international in javelin and bobsleigh, Tim was National Javelin Coach in the 90s’ then relinquished the post to work directly with Tim Henman (lawn tennis), initially while retaining a senior teacher position in British education. Following a period preparing a Le Mans winning motor racing team, he helped establish the English Institute of Sport from its inception in 2002 through to the Beijing debriefs and was then appointed as the Olympics Legacy advisor, Performance Director for British Shooting and CEO of Guernsey Sports. He has been to many countries to set up sport high performance sports systems including in the Middle East and Southeast Asia
