From literary classics, such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Hobbit, to contemporary children's books, such as David Walliam's Gangsta Granny, Book Week presents an opportunity for students and staff alike to celebrate their favourite characters and stories! This very special event also reminds children and their families of the importance of early reading, which helps to build key language, literacy and social skills.

The Book Week 2022 schedule was jam-packed with fun and educational activities for children (and their teachers!) to enjoy. These activities included a 'Guess the Book' competition, daily storytelling sessions, creating a dream jar, and home learning tasks for children working online.

On the Friday, students and staff came to School as their favourite book characters for 'Dress Up Friday' and took part in a whole-School read. We were honoured to also welcome Founder and Trustee, YAM Tunku Dara Tunku Tan Sri Naquiah bt Tuanku Ja’afar, to KTJ to judge our Prose Reading Competition, alongside Secondary teacher, Mr Hamish and Upper Sixth student, Aidan.

Head of Primary, Kris Davis, said: "It was wonderful to see our finalists speak with such poise, confidence and enthusiasm and the audience and judges were extremely impressed with all of our speakers. With the standard of performances so high, it was extremely difficult for our judges to differentiate between each reader. However, runner ups and an overall winner were finally agreed upon by our accomplished judges with prizes awarded to each of them. Congratulations to Sara in Year 6, who was our overall winner! Congratulations to everyone who took part in this year’s competition and to Ms. Simy for organising the event. We are already looking forward to next year’s event in 2023!"
