SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM

Principal:

Dr Simon Watson

Simon started teaching mathematics in the UK, shortly after graduating. His career has taken him to the Czech Republic, New Zealand and Denmark where he was Secondary School Principal at Copenhagen International School. He is married to Lucy who works as a professor at the University of Nottingham and they have four daughters, all of whom attend KTJ. He enjoys squash and has recently started training for triathlons, although he is still a long way behind Lucy's level of triathlon readiness! 


Head of Primary:

 Mr. James Twigg

James has worked in education for twenty years and before joining KTJ spent ten years as the headteacher of an outstanding primary school in the U.K. He has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and has completed the National Professional Qualification for Headship. He is also undertaking a part-time Doctorate in Education at the University of Manchester whilst at KTJ (using Skype technology to communicate with the UK!). James is passionate about learning and the opportunities an excellent education can provide. He is married to Cathryn and they have two boys, Benji and Toby, who both attend KTJ. He enjoys swimming, reading and spending time with his family.

 


Deputy Principal:

Pn Suria Velloo

Suria Velloo graduated with a B.Ed. Educational Studies, Hamilton, Canada and holds a M.Sc. Educational Administration, UPM, Malaysia.  She’s a trained teacher who has taught English Language for over 20 years.  

 

 


Head of Middle School:

Mr Suresh Naidu

Suresh is a member of the English Department and has worked at KTJ since 1994. He has held various positions in the School, including that of Houseparent, Proctor and now as Deputy Principal. He graduated from the University of Warwick, UK and enjoys tinkering with his cars. 

 


Head of Senior School:

Ms Anna Fournier

Anna is a biologist who has been living and teaching in Beijing for the last 9 years.  She graduated from the Universities of Newcastle Upon Tyne and Bath.  She has joined KTJ with her husband and two young daughters. She enjoys cooking, swimming, reading and yoga. 

 


Bursar:

Mr Benny Yeow

Benny completed his Chartered Accountancy exams in the year 1993. He worked in numerous industries such as trading, manufacturing, retail and supply chain. In 1997, Benny was appointed National Treasurer for Makro Cash & Carry Distribution Sdn Bhd. Benny ventured into independent financial consultancy providing company secretarial support, management accounts, raising of capital and risk management for companies. In the year 2008, Benny joined Kolej Tuanku Jaafar as the Bursar.


Director of Boarding:

Mr John Hughes

John Hughes teaches A level Maths & Further Maths in the Sixth Form. He is the Houseparent of Naquiyuddin House and is also the Director of Boarding. He has taught at KTJ for 7 years. He loves all sports, especially football and rugby, and he coaches one of the School's rugby teams.  

 


Head of Sixth Form:

 Ms Wendy Jones

Wendy is Head of Sixth form at KTJ and is responsible for supporting students through their A Levels and their journey onto university.  Wendy came to KTJ with her husband and two children. She enjoys exploring new countries and spending time with her family. 

 


Academic Manager:

Pn. Noorsham bt Abd Rashid

Noorsham is the Academic Manager at KTJ and is also a Mathematics teacher and has taught at KTJ for over 20 years. She started teaching at KTJ in 1990 and became a Housemistress from 1991-2004, when she left to teach in Hamburg International School. In her free time, Noorsham enjoys traveling with her family.
