DESIGN TECHNOLOGY & ART

Thomas Pickup:

Tom Pickup started his career in the British Army as an Electrical and Mechanical Engineer. He left the Army in 1994 after completing his service to train as a teacher. Since 1994, he worked in the UK and International Schools. His first international position was working for the British Council teaching in a rural school in Botswana. Tom has also taught in Kenya, Nepal and Kazakhstan where he has set up and developed Technology departments and curriculum. He has experience of all Key Stages having taught from Year 1 to Upper 6th. Tom has an interest in outdoor education and has worked for World Challenge Expeditions and assessed “out of country” Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions. 

Mohd Pauzi Mohd Nor:

Mohd Pauzi Mohd Nor is an Art & Design teacher at KTJ and has been teaching at here for almost 23 years. He loves sports, painting and cooking. He also coaches soccer and tennis in his spare time.

Lim Ah Ruan:

Lim Ah Ruan graduated from the Malaysian Institute of Arts. She has been teaching at KTJ for 13 years and covers Art & Design. Previously, she has worked as an art teacher in the Republic of Seychelles and freelanced as a portrait artist before joining KTJ.

Suria Velloo:

Suria Velloo graduated with a B.Ed. Educational Studies, Hamilton, Canada and holds a M.Sc. Educational Administration, UPM, Malaysia.  She’s a trained teacher who has taught English Language for over 20 years. 

BAHASA MELAYU

Zuraidah Omar (Head of Department):

Zuraidah graduated from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia with a Bachelors In Education (Hons.) majoring in Malay Language. She is from Terengganu which has many beautiful islands. Her hobbies are reading crime thrillers, travelling and watching movies. She has a passion for helping her students succeed in life. 

Maidin Mohd Kutty:

Maidin has been working at KTJ since 1992, and teaches Malay and PE at KTJ. Maidin has a degree in Social Science and a Diploma in Education and a Masters in Sport Science.

Suzali Ismail:

Suzali Bin Ismail is a Malay Language teacher and has worked at KTJ since 15 April 1995. He graduated from the Institute of Teaching and Educational Studies in Medan Indonesia. He loves KTJ because of students and the school environment.

Ruaida Ibrahim:

Ruaida is a Malay teacher who has taught at KTJ for 14 years. She has been teaching Malay Language for more than 25 years for local and international students, and expatriates. She pursued her M.Sc.(Corporate Communication) from Universiti Putra Malaysia. She involves in the International Youth Awards activities.

 

BUSINESS STUDIES

 

Mohana Sunthari Saki Tazan:

Mohana has been teaching Economics at KTJ since year 2000. After graduating from University Science Malaysia, she started her banking career with MBf before moving into field of education. She is currently working on a reference book on A Level Economics. She hopes to have it published soon.

Kalarani Magendran:

Kalarani graduated from Northern University Malaysia with a B. Acct (Hons.) in 1994 and has worked in Audit firms for 2 years. He taught in a private college for 5 years prior to joining KTJ in August 2001.  Currently, Kalarani teaches Accounting for Forms 4, 5 , Lower Sixth and Upper Sixth. 

Rachel Easaw:

Rachel is an Accounting and Economics teacher. She is new to the school. She graduated from the University of Southern Queensland and is a member of CPA Australia. She loves to engage in performing arts. 

Sharifah Nura Syed Edros:

Sharifah Nura a pioneer teacher in KTJ - teaching O and A level Economics. Houseparent for the House of Jawahir as well as teacher advisor for People to People International Student Chapter. 

Mary Celin Kung:

Mary is a Business teacher who has taught at KTJ for 10 years. She graduated with a degree in Economics and enjoys travelling.

CHINESE

Yeoh Mun Foong (Head of Department):

Mdm Yeoh Mun Foong teaches Physical Education and Chinese Language, and has been at KTJ for 16 years. She graduated from Malaysia Teachers Training College, University of Putra (Malaysia) and University of Zhe Jiang (China). She loves cats!

Swa Yoke Peng:

Swa Yoke Peng is a  Mandarin language teacher who has taught  at KTJ for 2 years. She graduated from Shanxi 'Normal University, China and has 10 years of teaching experience in secondary schools. 

Lim Chwee Ping:

Jacklyn Lim is a Music (classroom and piano) and Chinese teacher who has been teaching for more than 20 years in International Schools. She graduated from the University of Melbourne, Australia and is a registered teacher in Australia and Malaysia. She enjoys working especially challenging work, being creative and exploring. She loves teaching Mandarin and using ICT as a teaching tool and always tries to create fun activities for her students to learn. 

Lim Ah Ruan:

Lim Ah Ruan is a graduate from the Malaysian Institute of Arts. She has been teaching at KTJ for 13 years and covrs Art & Design. Previously, she has worked as an art teacher in the Republic of Seychelles and freelanced as a portrait artist before joining KTJ.

Low Bee Lan:

Yvonne graduated from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia with a degree in Mass Communication. She has been working as a Mandarin Teacher in Malaysia and Germany since 2000.

Teaching has always made her happy and feel a sense of fulfillment! 

 

COMPUTING

 

Pathmavathi Karuppiah (Head of Department):

Pathma is an ICT teacher who has taught at KTJ for 14 years. She is also the head of Computer department and Irinah house tutor. She graduated from the Otago Polytechnic Dunedin.

Shamini Kamalasen

Shamini completed her Diploma in IT and a Degree in Software Engineering from UNITEN. She continued to complete her Masters in Education Administration from UPM. She is passionate about computer programming and would like to share her experience with the students at KTJ. In her spare time she enjoys reading books, listening to music and watching movies.

DRAMA & THEATRE STUDIES

 

Adrian Nebbett (Head of Department):

Adrian Nebbett has been Head of Drama at KTJ for eleven of the last fifteen years, returning to the school after a four year hiatus in 2009. He has over thirty years of experience in theatre at amateur, student, community, and professional levels, in the UK, USA, Sri Lanka and Vietnam. In his other life he is a well-known authority on Sherlock Holmes.

Danielle Batt:

Having trained at The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, Danielle is passionate about finding creative and innovative ways of delivering the drama and English curriculum. Since completing her teacher training through Roehampton University, she has been teaching in London, and is excited by the prospect of developing her practice at KTJ. Danielle looks forward to visiting some of the theatres in KL, and leaning more about Malaysian art and culture. 

ECONOMICS

Mohana Tazan (Head of Economics):

Mohana has been teaching Economics at KTJ since year 2000. After graduating from University Science Malaysia, she started her banking career with MBf before moving into field of education. She is currently working on a reference book on A Level Economics. She hopes to have it published soon.

David Thaw:

David was born in Zambia and has spent much of his life living and working in several countries around Africa. He graduated with an MA in Economics from the University of St. Andrews and later returned to St. Andrews to study Theology and Philosophy. He also spent a year on a Liberal Arts scholarship at Emory University in the USA, and a year at the University of Cambridge studying Education. Before coming to KTJ, David worked for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London and at schools in the United Kingdom and in Kenya. He endeavors to use his experience of living, studying and working around the world to inspire in his students an interest in Economics, Politics and Philosophy and to encourage them to question why the world is the way it is. In his free time, David loves swimming, running (very slowly!) and walking.

Kalarani Magendran:

Nor Akshara Mohd Akmal:

Nor Akshara is an economics teacher who has taught at KTJ for 17 years. She graduated from Eastern Illinois University, USA  and enjoys reading.

Rachel Easaw:

Rachel is an Accounting and Economics teacher. She is new to the school. She graduated from the University of Southern Queensland and is a member of CPA Australia. She loves to engage in performing arts.

ENGLISH

Jasmine Gillman (Head of Department):

After graduating from Kingston University, Jasmine completed her teacher training in her home region of Devon in the UK. After teaching in England for two years, and Italy for three, she decided to move to KTJ, with her partner Mr James, to be the Head of English. In her spare time, Jasmine enjoys travelling, reading, music, yoga, swimming and running.

Wendy Jones (Head of Sixth Form):

Wendy is Head of Sixth form at KTJ and is responsible for supporting students through their A Levels and their journey onto university.  Wendy came to KTJ with her husband and two children. She enjoys exploring new countries and spending time with her family. 

Jane Adams:

Jane has been teaching English in England for 7 years in both Essex and Hertfordshire, she has also been an examiner for iGCSE for the last five years, and is very excited that KTJ is her first International school experience. In her previous life, she worked in the automotive trade for almost 20 years and was able to travel around America and Europe with her job. Jane loves creative writing (this was a part of her degree) and hopes that one day she will have at least one book published, she is currently working on a young adult fiction piece that she is determined to finish this year. When she is not teaching or writing, she enjoys watching films, and television series, as well as reading; she also likes to pretend that she is trying to get fit through yoga and the gym.

Mark Disney:

Mark Disney has been a permanent resident of Malaysia for over 20 years and joined KTJ in 2014, teaching History and English Literature at IGCSE and A-Level. He graduated from Oxford University with a degree in English Language & Literature. In addition to teaching and lecturing, he has extensive experience in the areas of educational consultancy, journalism, publishing, and qualifications. He is the President of the Oxford & Cambridge Society of Malaysia and will assist with university placement for the 6th Form. He is married with three children (2 of them are alumni of KTJ!)

Jeeja Pillay:

Jeeja has worked at  KTJ  since 1996 as a teacher of English and she has been a tutor in Jawahir house since 1996. She graduated from two universities with a Bachelors in English Literature from the University of Madras, South India and with a Masters in Human Science (MAESL) from International Islamic Univeristy, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. She enjoys debating, reading, meditating, listening to music, walking and many more as leisure activities.

Jenny Tang Lai Ping:

Jenny has been teaching English in KTJ for the past eight years and enjoys interacting with students who have been creating a lot of sparks throughout her career. She graduated from University Malaysia (TESL) and is currently residing in this peaceful town called Mantin.

Michael Southon:

Michael Southon is a teacher of English, graduating from Avondale College with distinction. He enjoys travelling and photography.

Danielle Batt:

FRENCH

 

Esmeralda Borges (Head of Department):

Esméralda Borges is a French teacher and the Houseparent of Alia House. She has been teaching in KTJ for 12 years. She graduated from the University of Grenoble in France where she studied the Didactics of French as a Foreign Language. When she has some free time she enjoys going to the cinema and reading. 

Cecile Karrer:

Cecile is a French teacher who has taught at KTJ for 3 years. She has been House parent of Naquiah girls since April 2014 after working in Alia House as a tutor. She graduated in France before completing her teaching qualifications at Sheffield University. She enjoys cooking, reading and travelling.

Dominique Frost:

After graduating at the University of Avignon, Dominique came to the UK to obtain an equivalent of her French degree in the University of Humberside and Lincolnshire. in 2007, she decided to change her career and did her teacher training in Chichester. She taught 7 years in a prep school in the UK and then moved to the UAE for 3 years with her husband and daughter Amélie. In her spare time, Dominique enjoys running, reading and meeting new people through travelling.

GEOGRAPHY

David Hughes (Head of Department):

After graduating from the University of Liverpool, David completed his PGCE at Homerton College, Cambridge. He is the Head of Geography and has worked in schools in both the UK and Australia. David and his wife have four sons, the eldest of whom are in the primary school at KTJ. David loves sport, in particular rugby, and is an enthusiastic cook.

Kenneth Wong:

Kenneth Wong is a Psychology, History and Geography teacher who has taught in KTJ for 11 years. He has an M. Ed. Psych with distinction from Universiti Malaya. He is a first aider and nature lover.

Anthony Catto:

Anthony Catto is a Geography and Biology teacher and has taught at KTJ since 2012. He graduated from Rhodes University and is proudly South African. He enjoys his sport, the outdoors and travelling. 

Norliza Othman:

Puan Norliza is a pioneer teacher since December 1990 who teaches Geography. She has a Master Degree in Urban Planning from Portland State University, USA. She likes dancing and is the adviser of Malay Dance Group and IYA society in KTJ.

HISTORY

Lucy Pomfret (Head of Department):

Lucy Pomfret has just started as Head of History at KTJ after teaching in London for the past three years. She graduated from the University of Birmingham with a History degree and completed her teacher training at the University of Bath. In her spare time she loves to play sport, read and travel.

Ross Marshall:

Ross Marshall is a History teacher at KTJ. He graduated from the University of Leicester in 2007 and completed his teacher training at Canterbury Christchurch University in 2009. His main interests and hobbies include football, swimming, reading and chess.

Krishnan K Karuppannan:

Krishnan.K is a pioneer teacher who has been teaching at KTJ  for 23 years. He has graduated from University Malaya ( majored in South East Asian studies & Politics ).He enjoys playing golf and badminton.

Jerry Catto:

Jerry Catto teaches History and spent most of his career teaching in South Africa before coming to KTJ in 2005. He enjoys living and  working in Malaysia and is a keen fisherman.

Kenneth Wong:

Moorthi Velu is a teacher of Business Studies, Malay, History and Morals.  He is Head of Year for Lower School and House Tutor for Imran.  Has been in KTJ since 1995.  He graduated from the Science University of Malaysia in Bachelor of Education and finished his Master in Business Administration from the National University of Malaysia.

 

ISLAMIC STUDIES

Hussin Sahid 

MATHEMATICS

Vengadachalam P (Head of Department):

Venga is a Maths teacher who has taught at KTJ for 16 years. He graduated from the University of Science, Malaysia and enjoys outdoor activities.

Murali Ramoo:

Murali is a Maths teacher who has taught at KTJ for 14 years with 24 years of teaching experience altogether. He also works as the Head of Year and is the Second in Command of Maths Department. He has graduated from UKM, Malaysia with Bsc (Hons) in Mathematics. He is a biker and loves travelling.

Angie Lee:

Angie is a Mathematics teacher and Irinah Houseparent. She has been with KTJ since 2001. Angie is an avid table-tennis player; she was previously an ECA Coordinator and NQH House Tutor.  

Fong Chee Yee:

Mr. Fong is a Maths teacher who is in his fourth year of teaching in KTJ. He graduated from the National University of Singapore and enjoys tennis.

Hussin Sahid:

Hussin Bin Sahid is a Maths teacher who has taught at KTJ for 17 years.  He graduated from Ohio University, Athens.  ‚Äč

Jayasri Pichakaran:

Jayasari is a Maths teacher at KTJ and has been here for 3 years. She graduated from University Tun Abdul Razak and enjoys playing badminton.

John Hughes:

John Hughes teaches A Level Maths & Further Maths in the Sixth Form. He is the Houseparent of Naquiyuddin House and is also the Director of Boarding. He has taught at KTJ for 7 years. He loves all sports, especially football and rugby, and he coaches the School's rugby teams. 

Lester Dickman:

Lester Dickman, who joined KTJ in 1996, has been a Mathematics teacher for more than 30 years. He is also the Director of Studies at the school but is passionate about spending time in the classroom with his students. Lester completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Malaya. He enjoys spending all his spare time with his family. 

Ng Poh Bee:

Ng Poh Bee is a Maths teacher who has taught at KTJ for 10 years. She graduated from the University of Putra Malaysia and enjoys playing piano.

Ng Wei Yee:

Wei Yee is a Maths teacher who has taught at KTJ for 5 years. She graduated from the University of Malaya and has years of experiences in teaching both the IGCSE and A-Levels Maths. She is a huge badminton fan, too.

Noorsham And Rashid:

Noorsham is an Assistant Director of Studies who is also a Mathematics teacher and has taught at KTJ for over 20 years. Started teaching at KTJ in 1990 and became a Housemistress from 1991 to 2004. In her free time, Noorsham enjoys traveling with my family.

Puvaneswary Govindan:

Puva has been teaching in KTJ for the past six years. She graduated from University Science of Malaysia and likes swimming.

Samuel Wilson:

Sam was born in Gisborne, New Zealand. He has a BSc (Math) from the University of Otago and a DipGrad (Secondary Teaching) from University of Canterbury. Previously, Sam taught for 3 and a half years in New Zealand at St Thomas of Canterbury College in Christchurch and Northcote College in Auckland. He enjoys running, sailing, rugby, football and cricket and looks forward to getting involved in sports at KTJ. Sam also enjoys trying new foods and looks forward to exploring Malaysia

Soba Kumari Krishnan:

Soba Kumari is a Mathematics teacher who has taught at KTJ for 10 years.  She has graduated from the University of Malaya and enjoys reading and baking.

MUSIC

 

Christina Vinson (Director of Music):

Shivon Sigrid Anita Veal:

Shivon completed a double bachelor in Education and Music, specialising Classical Voice. She went on to teach in Australia and Tokyo before moving to KTJ to teach Primary and Secondary Music. In her spare time, Shivon enjoys practicing singing, trumpet and piano, listening to music and travelling. 

Foo Chi Sian:

Foo Chi Sian is a music teacher who has taught at KTJ for almost 18 years. She graduated from Victoria University of Wellington (N.Z.) and enjoys listening to all kinds of music.

Sazali Abd Majid:

Sazali Abd Majid has been teaching at KTJ for 11 yrs. He graduated from the University of Salford, UK and enjoys travelling and movies. 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Lewis  Baillie (Director of Sport):

Lewis Baillie is a teacher of Physical Education at KTJ. He graduated from the University of Essex and his home town is Cambridge in the UK. He played semi professional football for 10 years for a number of different clubs, however he enjoys playing all sports. 

Stephen Davis (Assistant Head of Middle School):

Steve is from the UK and has been working at KTJ since 2013. Prior to that, he taught PE and Geography at a public school in the UK. In his spare time, he enjoys triathlons and travelling around the region.

Joshua Lee Xung Rong:

Joshua was born in Seremban. He holds the Bronze Medallion, Emergency First Response (EFR) and Swimming Teaching Certificate (STC) for his role in the primary and secondary schools as swimming teacher. His aim is to make the lessons as fun, easy to understand, effective and safe as possible. He always promotes swim-health, swim-safe and swim-fun into his teaching.

Maidin Mohd Kutty:

Maidin has been working at KTJ since 1992, and teaches Malay and PE at KTJ. Maidin has a degree in Social Science and a Diploma in Education and a Masters in Sport Science.

Yeoh Mun Foong:

Mdm Yeoh Mun Foong teaches Physical Education and Chinese Language, and has been at KTJ for 16 years. She graduated from Malaysia Teachers Training College, University of Putra (Malaysia) and University of Zhe Jiang (China). She loves cats! 

April Scott:

April was originally born and raised in Christchurch, New Zealand and graduated from the University of Canterbury. She has spent 3 years teaching Physical Education in Christchurch and Auckland. Prior to arriving in Malaysia she spent two months working on a high ropes course in the USA where she spent her days working 30ft up in the air. In her spare time April loves exercising, rock climbing, eating and travelling. 

SCIENCE

 

Ang Kwi Shin (Head of Department, Physics):

Ang is from Malacca in Malaysia.  He completed his Bachelor of Science with education at University Malaya in Malaysia.  For the last 20 years, he has taught Physics at Advanced level and International General Certificate of Secondary Education.  He was also a  House Tutor in Nadzimmuddin House. Prior to coming to KTJ, Ang taught in Airforce Technical School and Airforce Flying School in Malaysia. Student success is what drives him to continue in education. He is a firm believer that interactive and inquiring classrooms develop life long learners.He has been very involved with computers and ICT for many years, preferring to apply skills rather than simply play computer games. Ang has two adult sons and two beautiful daughter, all living in Malaysia. He loves to travel, and get to know interesting people around the world!

Paul Allen (Head of Department, Chemistry):

After graduating from the University of Kent, Paul completed his teacher training in his home region of Devon in the UK. After teaching in England for 8 years he decided to move with his fiancee to KTJ and is currently teaching Chemistry. In his spare time Paul enjoys travelling, listening to music and eating the local cuisine.

Sabrina Mohd Said (Head of Department, Biology):

Sabrina graduated from the University of Malaya with a B.sc. Hons in Microbiology and a Diploma in Education. She is currently the head of the Biology department at KTJ and has been at the schools for 21 years. She enjoys her work with the boarding houses and in the past has been the Houseparent at Irinah and Naquiah House.

Simon Lai:

Simon Lai is a Chemistry teacher who has taught in KTJ for 24 years. He graduated from University of Malaya and enjoys watching animation in his spare time.

Pitchaymutu Tulasi:

Mutu is Physics teacher who has taught in KTJ for five years. He is passionate about Physics and delves a little in Astronomy. Awe inspired by the discoveries of the secrets of the Universe.

Adam Yates:

Adam Yates has been the Head of Learning Support for 2 years at KTJ and is additionally employed as a House Tutor in Naquiah boarding House. He graduated from the University of Lancaster in 2004 and in his spare time practices martial arts. 

Anna Fournier (Head of Middle School):

Anna is a biologist who has been living and teaching in Beijing for the last 9 years.  She graduated from the Universities of Newcastle Upon Tyne and Bath.  She has joined KTJ with her husband and two young daughters. She enjoys cooking, swimming, reading and yoga.

Anthony Catto:

Anthony Catto is a Geography and Biology teacher and has taught at KTJ since 2012. He graduated from Rhodes University and is proudly South African. He enjoys his sport, the outdoors and travelling. 

Asogan Arumugam:

Asogan graduated from Malaysia national university in 1987 with a bachelor of science (hons). Teaching sciences, chemistry and biology since end 1990.  One of the few pioneering teachers of KTJ. In his spare time, he loves to play golf and squash. 

Hasmuni Md Harun:

Hasmuni graduated from the University Of Malaya. He has taught Science at KTJ since August 1991 and has a keen interest in most sports.

Malathi Lingam Vadamalay:

My first teaching post was in Ipoh, Perak in a private local school. I taught science to lower forms and biology to forms four and five. I was here for six years and moved to Nilai after my marriage and worked in Seremban for a few years. After the birth of my second son, I started working in KTJ. It feels as though I just started teaching here but 18 years have passed. KTJ feels like a second home, the teachers and students like a family. 

Mary Alex Alaxander:

I started my teaching career in Methodist High School Ipoh in July 1974 and taught chemistry for STPM (Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia) students and continued until 2005. I started teaching In KTJ in January2006 and have been here since. Here I taught SPM and IGCSE chemistry. Currently I am teaching A Level chemistry only. I am tutor in Jawahir house and am enjoying the experience. My hobby is gardening, doing embroidery, crochet and baking.

Peter Scargill:

Mr Scargill is a Physics teacher but is also the Houseparent of Nadzaruddin House. He arrived with his beautiful wife Ghill having worked in Dubai for the last four years. He is a graduate of Loughborough University and a keen rugby union front row player

Jason Walker (Curriculum Coordinator):

Jason is from Birmingham in the UK. He has been a Physics teacher since 2012 and has predominantly taught upper school and sixth form students. Before becoming a teacher Mr Walker worked in Engineering Recruitment with some of the most advanced engineering companies in the UK. He loves triathlon, has completed a number of Ironman races and also explores much of the local region on two wheels with local cycling clubs. 

Pushpalatha Pillai:

Pushpalatha is a physics teacher who has taught at KTJ for 10 years. She graduated from the university Pertanian Malaysia and enjoy travelling.

Sulaiman Hassan:

Sulaiman has been at KTJ for 16 years and he loves outdoor activities such as climbing mountains, canoeing and hiking. Recently, he completed just over 100 dives and was certified as an advance open water scuba diver. He is a keen sports person and can play cricket, badminton, table tennis, baseball, soccer, golf plus others. He teaches Chemistry and Physics and has been a tutor at Nadzaruddin. He graduated from Melbourne University with a teaching degree and has 28 years of working experience.

Sumathi Balasubramaniam:

Dr. Sumathi Balasubramaniam,  graduated with PhD in Biochemistry from National University of Malaysia. Worked in Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar for 13 years. My hobby is reading. My most cherished quote: Difficulties in Life Helps us realise our hidden potential and power" and " The will of god will not take us where the grace of god cannot protect us".

Yuwaneswari Nauru Pichai:

Yuwaneswari is a Chemistry Teacher at KTJ and graduated from the University of Malaya in 2008. Her year working here at KTJ has given her lots of joy especially with the students.

Head of Student Support Services and EAL

Deryk Mathieu Powles Fournier: 

Deryk Fournier, Head of Student Support Services and EAL Coordinator, studied in Canada, France and England. He arrived at KTJ in August, after 9 Years in Beijing. He is especially excited about discovering, with his daughters and Anna, Malaysia and its diverse food culture. Indeed, in his spare time, he enjoys eating. 

English Additional Language (EAL)

Rose Catto:

Rose Catto has been at KTJ for nine years and is a teacher in the English Language Unit. She enjoys travelling and is passionate about animals.

Henry Wilkinson:

Henry joined KTJ in 2014 and teaches EAL (English as an Additional Language). He has a BA in History from The University of Manchester and a Masters from the University of York. He enjoys most sports and takes an active interest in global affairs and international relations. 

Dean Jones:

Dean started teaching English as an Additional Language more than 20 years ago and has worked as a teacher, Director of Studies and principal in various private language schools around the world.  Dean recently moved to Malaysia with his wife and two children and they have all loved the friendliness of the people and how welcome they have been made to feel. Dean is a twitcher and outside school hours, you may find Dean stalking birds in the school grounds.

Emma Davidson

Having been an EAL teacher to students aged from 5 to 75 at the British Council, Kuala Lumpur for 7 years, Emma joined KTJ as Head of Operations to help start the Primary school. Now she's back to her first love and teaching the Primary school's EAL students and the Secondary school's IELTS candidates. As an Executive Committee member of the Oxford and Cambridge Society Malaysia, she is also extremely dedicated to her mission of exposing KTJ'ers and other bright students to intellectual invigoration through outreach events such as The Oxbridge & KTJ Annual Debating Forum and The Annual Oxbridge & KTJ Engineering Workshop.

Amanda Luukinen:

After securing a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and working 10 years in this field throughout the U.S., Amanda pursued a dream of teaching English in Asia. Since completing a TESOL course in 2015, she has taught at private institutions in SE Asia. Amanda now assists in teaching EAL throughout the KTJ Primary School. In her free time she enjoys all things vegetarian, writing and travelling throughout Asia. 

Leslie Alan Frost

Prior to joining KTJ Les worked in the UAE for three years, where he was the EFL coordinator and teacher at an international school.  Previously he taught at Chichester College in the UK following a career change from being a professional tennis coach.  He enjoys golf, tennis, reading and exploring Malaysia with his wife and daughter.

Adam Yates:

Adam has been the Head of Learning Support for 2 years at KTJ and is additionally employed as a House Tutor in Naquiah boarding House. He graduated from the University of Lancaster in 2004 and in his spare time practices martial arts.
